COMPLETELY – Diamond Rio
DIAMOND RIO – Arista
Completely is a very appropriate title for this one, where they touch every corner of their musical repertoire, from mandolin-spiked bluegrass influenced orchestral work (yes that’s bluegrass and orchestra) on the instrumental Rural Philharmonic, to the easy listening lounge music of the track Something Cool, the barroom country of If You’d Like Some Lovin, this is the complete range of Diamond Rio country music. The opening track Beautiful Lies has already hit the US top 10 and is a fine opener using all the commercial ability of the 1998 Opry inductees to deliver a wide audience some great contemporary country music. With all members of the band co-producing, this adds a further element of variety to the styles on this one, but somewhat unexpectedly, the album as a whole gels remarkably well in a completely enjoyable way.
