JUST ANOTHER DAY
Deborah Minter
DOUBLEVISION are eye-catching identical twins, CANDICE and NADINNE RIDDELL from Adelaide. Their sound reminds me most of SUSANNA HOFF (of pop group the BANGLES) but with pure harmonies in the style of VIKA and LINDA BULL. Title track Just Another Day and Works For Me are exceptional. On Her Own was released in Canada and has already received high praise. Sweet ballad Don’t Move and poignant Fallen are a soft counterbalance to the angst-anthem NOT! The girls also boast some fine emerging songwriting talents with credits on four tracks, Promises To Keep, Whisper To Me and I’m Going Home, with their best the bonus track Let It Rain. Perhaps a little too much emphasis has been placed on the harmonies and not quite enough on the tone, which is a little edgy in places, but with a generous sixteen tracks, this is a worthy album to introduce the twins to Australia and the world.
